Our Purpose

Therapy is about more than skills — it's about quality of life.

At Small Talk Pediatric Therapy, we believe in the transformative power of play — an essential language where children express, learn, and blossom. Through our specialized programs integrating speech, occupational, and physical therapy, we help improve mobility and functional independence, because every movement counts, no matter how small.

We see each child as a unique individual with their own strengths, challenges, and aspirations. We're not just therapists — we're allies advocating for accessible, joyful, and meaningful lives for our children and their families.

Getting Started

How to Start Therapy at Small Talk

Starting therapy can feel overwhelming, but our team at Small Talk is here to guide you every step of the way.

Initial Consultation
Contact us by phone, email, social media, or in person for a free consultation. We'll discuss your child's needs, answer questions, help with insurance, and explain the next steps.
1
2
Screening
Our screening helps determine if Small Talk is the best fit for your child. If another provider or service would better meet their needs, we'll help connect you with the right resources. We commonly serve children with developmental delays, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, Down syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD), learning disabilities, intellectual disabilities, chromosomal abnormalities, and related diagnoses.
Referral
A referral from your child's pediatrician or physician is required to begin therapy and allow insurance billing. Your provider will send the referral directly to us.
3
4
Evaluation
One of our therapists will complete a comprehensive evaluation using parent input, standardized assessments, and clinical observations to determine your child's therapy needs and recommend a treatment plan.
Treatment
Therapy sessions are typically scheduled 1–2 times per week for 30–60 minutes, based on your child's needs and insurance coverage. At the end of each visit, your therapist will review progress, discuss the session, and provide activities to support continued growth at home.
5
6
Progress Reports
Throughout therapy, you'll receive regular updates on your child's progress along with opportunities to meet with your therapist, ask questions, and adjust goals as needed.
Re-Evaluation
Most insurance plans require annual re-evaluations to continue services. These assessments measure your child's progress and help update their treatment plan for continued success.
7
8
Discharge & Graduation
When your child achieves their therapy goals or is ready for a break from services, we'll celebrate this important milestone together. Our goal is to help every child build the skills they need to thrive with confidence.
